Early Intervention Specialist Salary Range: $40,707-$44,482

JOB PURPOSE:  Provides services to children from 0 to 3 years of age with developmental delays. Conducts assessments and provides intervention and service coordination for children ages 0-3 referred to the First Steps ECI program.  Provides consultation in area of expertise to families and other team members.   Creates strategies to accomplish individualized outcomes for children and families.  Is accountable for assigned property as well as submitting documentation for billing purposes. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor degree as specified in the ECI policy on Education requirements for Early Intervention Specialist, i.e., Adaptive Physical Education, Child Development, Child Life, Communication Disorders, Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Family Studies Health Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Special Education, or equivalent degrees with ECI State Office approval or other related bachelor's degree with 18 hours of college credit, verified by an official transcript with a passing grade, that is directly related to early intervention; or credential as Early Intervention Specialist Professional (EIS)?Fully qualified.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Good spelling and grammar skills.
  • Ability to compose documents according to standards
  • Computer-skilled in the use of technology with Microsoft Office and all Google applications.
  • Ability to input data into computer, make calculations, complete paperwork, produce reports.
  • Familiarity with community health resources
  • Ability to build rapport with families
  • Must be physically able to conduct home visits to include walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, and standing for long periods of time if required (with or without a reasonable accommodation).

  • May be required to interact with other consumers, referral sources, outside agencies, and family members to determine needs and actions to be taken. 
  • Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state. 
  • Liability insurance required if employee will operate personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business.  Must be insurable by Center's liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business.
  • Travel may be required within the 6 county service area
  • Must complete all training requirements in month in which they are due.  Must complete the EIS credentialing requirement within 12 months of hire. 
  • Availability of a personal vehicle for business use will be required. 
  • Work may be required outside of the M-F 8-5 framework
  • Work will take place within office setting, community setting, daycares and within the homes of individuals
  • Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must successfully pass all background screens as required by the state

I.Essential Tasks & Standards

1.Performs initial assessments and reassessments using clinical observation, parent interview and standardized/criterion referenced assessment tools to establish eligibility and determine level of functioning and service needs.  Maintains consumer records and completes other documentation in accordance with applicable standards, Unit policy, and Center policy.

2.Maintains accurate documentation of services. Completes progress reports in reference to service delivery within 24 hours.

3.Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team in writing the IFSP so that the plan complies with ECI polices and addresses the needs of children and their families. Attends staff meetings and/or trainings as assigned.

4.Conducts Child Find at health fairs, hospitals, health clinics, doctors' offices and social service agencies to ensure community is aware of services.  Advocates and helps the client navigate the system to support access to needed resources.

5.Functions as Service Coordinator for assigned cases to facilitate linkage and coordination of services.

6.Is responsible for adhering to timelines in accordance with applicable standards.

7.Complies with ECI policy and procedures so that family rights are protected and procedural safeguards are followed.

8.Provides direct intervention and/or consultation to children/families/staff as described in the IFSP to facilitate development and enhance functioning of the child.

9.Completes assigned intakes with families.

7.Maintains confidentiality regarding consumers, records, personnel, and other sensitive and confidential information in order to comply with Center, state, and federal policy.

8.Conducts all aspects of employment in accordance with Center's Compliance Program.
