Program Coordinator Jail Services Salary: $45,158 - $49,345

JOB PURPOSESupervises all personnel assigned to the Court and Jail Services team (CJST) including Jail Based Competency Restoration and NGRI (Not Guilty By Reasons of Insanity) services and programs. Coordinates and integrates services between and with the courts, jails, and other community based providers for meeting mental health needs and expectations of defendants and judicial system. Provides and coordinates an interdisciplinary approach to criminal court cases involving defendants with mental illness, focusing on timely identification of mental illness, coordination to appropriate mental health services, and successful re-emergence into the community. Supervises jail contract services and ensures contract requirements are met for all jail services including jail assessments, counseling services, and provider services. Coordinates the provision of law enforcement training in conjunction with Crisis Prevention Specialist.  Participates in the development of unit policies and procedures ensuring compliance with all applicable standards. Work is performed in collaboration and conjunction with other program coordinators. May include community outreach.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:  A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in social, behavioral or human services or is a registered nurse (social, behavioral, and human services are:  psychology; social work; medicine; nursing; rehabilitation; counseling; sociology; human development; physician's assistant; gerontology; education psychology; special education; early childhood intervention; or early childhood education). Must have 2 years of combined experience in healthcare setting or supervisory role.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Appropriate written and verbal communication. This includes spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to compose documents according to standards
  • Computer-skilled in the use of technology with Microsoft Office and all Google applications.
  • Ability to input data into computer, make calculations, complete paperwork, and produce reports. This includes the ability to utilize different software and systems. 
  • Familiarity with community health resources
  • Ability to build rapport with clients and staff
  • Demonstrate skill in utilizing appropriate professional tools and interventions.
  • Interacts with diverse cultural, ethnic, and economic backgrounds and municipal organizations and agencies.
  • Acquires and uses new skills as the job requires.
  • Ability to work with considerable latitude and exercise discretion and independent judgment. This would include skills in problem solving. 
  • Ability to complete all job requirements in a timely manner. 
  • Must be physically able to perform all job requirements that may include home visits, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, and standing or sitting for long periods of time if required (with or without a reasonable accommodation).

  • May be required to interact with other consumers, referral sources, outside agencies, and family members to determine needs and actions to be taken.
  • Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state.
  • Liability insurance required if employee will operate personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business.  Must be insurable by Center's liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business.
  • Must complete all training requirements in month in which they are due.
  • May be required to provide on-call duties. 
  • Availability of a personal vehicle for business use may be required.
  • Work may take place within clinic-office or community settings (schools, nursing homes, emergency rooms, clients' residences, shelters etc.) and may interactions with agitated or disruptive individuals.
  • Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must successfully pass all background screens as required by the state
  • Must be physically able to conduct home visits to include walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, and standing for long periods of time if required.
  • May be responsible for providing group services and/or crisis services as needed.
