JOB PURPOSE: Performs advanced skilled maintenance and repair work for all Spindletop buildings and residential homes in the community and moderate repairs and maintenance for Spindletop vehicles. Tasks include building, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical repairs, vehicle maintenance, painting, carpentry, and moving furniture.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: High school diploma or GED, supplemented by training in related building trades. Must have two years' experience in maintenance and repair of buildings and in the operation and maintenance of electrical, air conditioning and mechanical equipment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Is knowledgeable about repairs and maintenance procedures
- Good driving skills
- Ability to read and follow instructions, both written and verbal
- Ability to write notes, memos, letters, various complex reports and miscellaneous other documents with acceptable spelling and grammar

- May be required to interact with other consumers, referral sources, outside agencies, and family members to determine needs and actions to be taken.
- Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state.
- Liability insurance required if employee will operate personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business. Must be insurable by Center's liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business.
- Must complete all training requirements in month in which they are due.
- May be required to provide on-call duties.
- Availability of a personal vehicle for business use may be required.
- Work will take place within office and community settings
- Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must successfully pass all background screens as required by the state.
- Ability to input data into computer, make calculations, complete paperwork, produce reports
- Must be physically able to complete work orders to include walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, and standing for long periods of time if required.
Essential Tasks & Standards
- Performs maintenance and repair work for Spindletop facilities including building, electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, mechanical systems, carpentry, and painting as assigned by work orders.
- Notifies supervisor if outside contractors are necessary to assist in repairs or maintenance. If directed by supervisor, contacts outside contractors for repairs or maintenance.
- Maintains tools in good working order. Ensures proper tools are available prior to performing each assigned task to promote efficiency.
- Ensures that work is performed in accordance with applicable building codes. All work requiring inspection by city inspectors meets requirements on the first inspection at least 80% of the time.
- Inspects equipment/buildings.
- Maintains accounts, calculates material/labor costs for jobs, and purchases materials in accordance with Center purchasing procedures. Ensures that materials are available when performing repairs.
- Moves furniture and equipment.
- Delivers/installs furniture and equipment in correct location within specified time frames. Avoids damage to furniture or equipment during moving or installation.
- Drives safely at all times resulting in no at-fault accidents or safety violations.
- Performs preventative maintenance to assigned vehicle as needed
