JOB PURPOSE: Performs complex habilitation work while coordinating, designing and providing relevant age appropriate prevocational training, communication programs, as well as educational training (in conjunction with other team members) for adults with or without Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, with profound physical disabilities and/or sensory deficits. Responsibilities include assisting in evaluations and training related to assistive technology equipment, computer switches, boards, use of environmental control units, etc.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Associate's Degree in Rehabilitation Science or a related field with three years' experiences with consumer related services. Rehabilitation Science, for the purposes of the program, is defined as one of the following: medicine, nursing, low vision rehabilitation, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech-language pathology, audiology, special education, vocational rehabilitation, engineering (biomedical, clinical, or rehabilitation), prosthetics & orthotics, recreation therapy, and rehabilitation technology (rehabilitation technology defined as an Associate degree curriculum for technicians focusing upon application of technologies to the needs of people with disabilities). Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Preference will be given to applicants with experience in seating and positioning techniques and/or assistive technology and augmentative communication. Completion of Assistive Technology Professional certification will be required after employment.
DEGREE AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED (IF APPLICABLE): Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Rehabilitation Science.
